let me lend you my eyes
MICA undergraduate thesis project
fall 2024-spring 2025
Let me lend you my eyes is developed first and foremost through light. Its ability to reveal a form, its reflections, and the resulting cast shadow’s ability to conceal. Light disrupts even the most quiet of moments resulting in a personal irresistible urge to draw. Charcoal’s gentle scratch on paper and the smearing of grease on smooth limestone are irreplaceable sensations. These methods of making are a mode of processing and mediating photographic documents of my everyday social frustrations and a desire for proximity.
Are we really this close? Or am I too close? I know these relationships consume me and maintain a unique importance in my life.
If I can capture them in a drawing can I make myself important too?
currently 43 charcoal drawings and lithographs
